Pet Paradise and Some Plants 2019, explores where non-human care meets with commercial and hobbyist aesthetics and practices. With the supplementary text Is It Safe? 2019, the space is meant to question what is a safe existence in the Anthropocene for a non-human. If the entire planet has been rendered toxic or altered uninhabitable, maybe human care is all some species have left. Cataloged on shelves, bred, bought, traded, and sold. Kept alive until interest or investment fail. Is all human care equitable? Do the non-humans want this type of existence?
