The Pristine Nature series was created as a response to the environmental crisis. I had become shockingly aware that I couldn’t find the pristine nature of museum dioramas anymore. Every ecosystem I have access to has been altered by humans and invaded by non-native species, utterly changed from whatever their “natural” state might have been.. In these photographs I used plastic film to insert a hyperobject form into my photographs of natural landscapes and to highlight its ubiquitous presence. The constant plastic haunting shows us that at least to this artist pristine nature no longer exists, and we must view landscapes through the lens of hyperobject contamination.
