Travis Mitzel is a Chicago based artist focused on ecological concerns and existing in the Anthropocene. Often working with biological material to create photographic, video, and sculptural forms. Travis also operates satellite studio and lab space in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2016 Travis won the Carnegie Museum Of Art Purchase Prize at the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh's 105th annual exhibition (held at CMOA). Travis is currently an MFA student in the photography department at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago with an anticipated graduation of May 2019.

When not creating his own work, attending class, or working as a TA at SAIC Travis works in the commercial photography industry. Working primarily as an assistant, stylist, retoucher, and digital tech. Some of his past clients include: The New York Times, Mercedes Benz, Crate & Barrel, CB2, Audi, Red Bull, Aerie, The Pittsburgh Steelers, NBC/Universal, The Wall Street Journal, American Eagle, and Sony Music.
